January 1999 extra issue Volume 2.2
The "Come & See" evening
will be held in the second half of February. Cadet participation
includes "Parts of the Rifle", Rifle Drill Display and
Round the Pole flying. We still need a volunteer to speak about
his/her experience of the ATC.
We will be progressively tidying our
accommodation and reviewing our inventory so that we are ready
for any inspection that might take place before our new building
is specified. It is in our interests that our present space looks
well used and well looked after. We have made a good start with
the project room. The recreation room will be next!
As discussed at a meeting with the NCOs, Corporals will assist the supervision of projects.
Additionally, all NCOs will be invited to help create the monthly programme The basic draft of the next month's programme, including those activities which are already committed, will be made available at the middle of the preceding month.
Cpls King, Rapley, Owers & Young have been selected by Wing to attend the JNCO course at RAF Lyneham from Friday evening 29th to Sunday afternoon 31st January
We hope to have a visit to RAF Lyneham during half-term. The programme planning includes Hercules flying and Small Arms Trainer (SAT) shooting. This activity is being arranged by Flight Sergeant Hick, 47 Sqn, RAF who is our much travelled Service Instructor.

As predicted in Volume 2.1, we have had a preliminary
briefing regarding our continuing involvement in local conservation
work. Further details will be published in due course but the
work we could do at Roundway Covert includes extension of the
paths we have already created; building and renovation of steps
and improving the access road. Additionally we may undertake conservation
work on Morgan's Mount.
The Trust wants to be fully involved with our efforts
and are offering practical assistance including the use of their
new minibus and making tools available. They plan a Press Release
with photo call in April and will ensure that we get good publicity.
Already, we are credited in the new Roundway Covert leaflet and
will be listed as volunteer helpers on the new sign to be placed
at the entrance to the woods.
Finally, they are offering free places on courses
aimed at task team leaders and will also run a special "Leadership
of Practical Tasks" course for cadets on a parade evening
before we start the season's work.

Applications via the CO
Staff who are likely to drive the Trust minibus must submit an application via the CO. Note that the minibus will be available for other journeys on a very fair cost recovery basis.
The CO believes that this new relationship with Wiltshire
Wildlife Trust is good news and encourages all personnel to become
fully involved in this important community work.
